This reminds me of Vercors
With the full intention of recording every day of my yearlong experience in France, I somehow lost track of the days and before I knew it, I had gone from a jetlagged day of travel in July to a teary-eyed farewell in August. One month had passed me by. One month that existed as a giant blur of 3 Euro bottles of wine, late night games of volleyball, bricks of Brie cheese, Brazilian dance lessons over refreshing Caipirinhas, pain au chocolat and enough French to overdose your brain. What can I say…in between living, I was sleeping and then waking up to do it all over again.
But life, in a way, always exists in our memories. So while I move forward and start this blog, I will include some stories (however hazy) of the last amazing month of my life. And the lessons I have learned along the way.
Before I left on this journey, my friend told me I was going to have my own “Eat, Pray, Love” experience. Well I have definitely done all three to their capacity! But I have found it to be so much more…..explore, live, adventure, dare and push boundaries. However, most importantly I think my journey thus far has been about trust. Trusting the universe to deliver me safely where I need to be. It is not always the easiest thing to do and there have been times in my life where I have questioned the way that life has unfolded. Now I am in a phase where I try not to question, just accept. Accept the present moment and all the gifts it has to offer. People always say, “Everything happens for a reason.” Often, we don’t know the reason; we don’t have a crystal ball. So for now, I trust that there was some good reason for all the events of the past. I trust in the present moment and all the reasons it is the way it is now. And I trust in a future that is waiting for me.
At this moment, I am writing from a lofty apartment with an incredible view of the mountain and the Bastille, drinking my coffee and indulging in my cinnamon french toast. A two minute walk from here is the river Isere which flows through this quaint town. After breakfast, I will make my morning jog along the river and have a moment of gratitude that I am able to indulge in such a gorgeous view of nature.
P.s. In an attempt to expand my knowledge of french and for my french-speaking friends, I will also attempt to translate these posts into french. Notice I said “attempt”….hopefully with time this will improve!!!
